Sports Law Programs

Sports Law ProgramsIf you are thinking of pursuing a career in sports law, the first step you need to take towards securing a successful career is being admitted in a top sports law program.

Researching the general law school rankings that get published every year will not be a good way to find out which are the best programs in sports law programs. Sports and entertainment law are generally ranked together, and surprisingly enough, the rankings for these programs are quite different than the ones of the general law department of a specific graduate school. The best sports law school programs will sometimes be hosted by a law school whose overall ranking is fairly low, and conversely some Ivy League schools with top law rankings, might not have great sports and entertainment law programs.

The best places to study sports and entertainment law are New York and California. Unfortunately, as there are no separate sports law programs rankings, these programs are evaluated as a combined unit. On the east coast, Columbia University and NYU would be the best choices in terms of entertainment and sports law programs, whereas on the west coast it would be schools like UCLA (ranked among the top schools nationwide in terms of sports and entertainment law), Stanford (one of the best law schools in the nation, that also has a sports and entrainment law society as parts of its program), Loyola Law School of Los Angeles, Pepperdine University and many others.

The best way to reach your goals is make sure you know each law school requirements as well as get hands on advice from others that have been admitted into these programs. You can search for law school blogs or law school forums where you can find advice about law school admissions, and the various success tips some give to college graduates thinking of applying to law school.
